We introduce a new colour variant of our extraordinary multicoloured filament – PLA Rainbow Silk Fire from ROSA 3D. Using it you can create unique, fiery prints.

Fiery colours of PLA Rainbow Silk Fire filament

PLA Rainbow Silk Fire filament from ROSA 3D has a unique, fiery colour scheme. Intense, warm colours combined with high gloss make 3D prints made from this filament eye-catching. The gradient forming this filament consists of fiery hues: deep red, luminous orange, yellow and golden tones. An equally important feature of this filament is its strong gloss. It makes the colours more intense. In addition the reflections shimmering on the surface of prints add life to them. The stunning visual properties are a result of the unique combination of ingredients used in the production process.

Physical properties of PLA Rainbow Silk Fire

PLA Rainbow Silk Fire, like the other versions of PLA Rainbow Silk, is a polylactide based filament enriched with a unique blend of materials. It does not require a chamber or high temperatures of the extruder. Therefore, it can be successfully used even in the simplest 3D printers. An additional advantage of this filament is the lack of unpleasant smell. The resulting prints are characterised by very good interlayer adhesion. This means that they are durable and do not break easily.

How to control colours in a print made with PLA Rainbow Silk Fire?

Multicoloured filament is a great solution if you want to make the 3d printed objects more vivid.  Its great advantage is the ease with which you can create interesting, multicoloured prints. There is no need to tediously change the filament during printing. Printer with multiple extruders is also not required.

You can control the number of colour transitions and the height of the colour layer. How? All you need to do is choose the right printing parameters in the slicer. Full colour transition (all colours) occurs about every 200 grams of the filament. All you need to do is adjust the density of infill and number of perimeters forming walls. The program will tell you how many grams of material will be used to make a print. By increasing the mass of the print you will get a greater number of colour transitions.

What are the nozzle temperature and print speed for PLA Rainbow Silk Fire?

PLA Rainbow Silk Fire printing parameters aren’t any different from the typical settings used for PLA filaments. It is recommended to use temperatures between 200-225°C. You can get a glossier surface of the finished print by increasing the extrusion temperature. The optimal printing speed for PLA Rainbow Silk Fire is 60-80 mm/s.

What nozzle to use for PLA Rainbow Silk Fire?

To print with PLA Rainbow Silk Fire, you can use a nozzle diameter ranging from 0,4 mm to 1 mm. You can choose from sizes from 0,2 mm to 1 mm. A brass nozzle, which is standard equipment with most 3D printers, is sufficient for printing with this material. However you can use a nozzle made from another material, such as hardened steel, if you like. A specific heatbreak is also not required. Both full-metal and one with Teflon (PTFE) tube will work well.

A standard brass nozzle is good enough but you can use a hardened steel one, if you like. A specific heatbreak is also not required. Both full-metal and one with Teflon (PTFE) tube will work well.

Please note that the optimal printing temperature depends on the nozzle and heatbreak material. It should be individually adjusted to the particular printer. Optimal parameters can be determined by making test prints.

PLA Rainbow Silk Fire filament is suitable for use in both direct drive and bowden feeding 3d printers. It is worth to have in mind the angle at which the filament is fed to the hotend. Too sharp angle combined with rapid head movements may result in a broken filament. For better flow of the material you can also use thermal paste. To do this, you should disassemble the hotend and apply a small amount of paste on the thread on which the heatsink is screwed.

Heated chamber is not required to obtain very good results. Although, its use will have a beneficial effect on the interlayer adhesion in the finished print.

Which bed sufaces are compatible with PLA Rainbow Silk Fie?

The filament is suitable for printing on glass, PC sheet, PEI board and aluminium sheet. The material does not require a heated bed.  However, a heated bed increases the adhesion of the print to the surface. To get the best results it is worth to increase the adhesion of the print to the surface. If the table is not heated, it is recommended to use an adhesive agent. There are special agents available on the market for this purpose. You can also use other substances such as glue stick or hairspray.

Applications of PLA Rainbow Silk Fire

In the world of 3D printing you have virtually unlimited possibilities for creation. However, if you need suggestions for what you can create using Rainbow Silk PLA   then you’ve come to the right place. This filament is perfect for creating unique toys and figurines for kids. Children will be speechless with joy when they see rainbow castles and unicorns. Another application for this multicoloured material are all kinds of gifts and keyrings. Gifted persons will certainly be impressed by the unique colour and shine. An interesting idea is to use this filament to create many copies of the same object. Each subsequent print will have a unique colour.

In summary, PLA Rainbow Silk filament can be used to print:

– toys,

– figurines,

– ornaments,

– key rings,

– unique gifts for family and friends,

– multicoloured variants of the same object.

Each spool contains 800g of multi-coloured Filament. This means that there are 4 full cycles of fiery  colours on one spool.
